🌶️🎶 To The Teeth: Watain, Al-Namrood, Negative Plane, Rammstein, Bedsore, Thou & Mizmor, Saor, The Gathering, Helms Alee & more!
New albums
🌶️ Al-Namrood (black/folk from Saudi-Arabia. FFO: Melechesh, Darkestrah)
Behold the Biggest Balls of the music industry. This band makes anti-authority black metal from one of the most stringent regimes in the world, Saudi-Arabia. I can attest they are the real deal, since I'm the only journalist in the world to have had a face-to-face interview with them, ever. (read it here, in Dutch). They're back with a new singer, a more refined, honed in black/folk sound, and unrelenting determination to bring an end to the suffering of their land.
🌶️ Thou & Mizmor (sludge/doom from the USA & black/drone/doom from the USA. FFO: Inter Arma, Indian)
I haven't like everything these two have released the past couple of years (although Thou's Rhea Sylvia and Inconsolable are among my favourite records). The two of them together? It just works. They played it live at Roadburn, and I was at Roadburn, but managed to miss this (unannounced) show.
🌶️ Negative Plane (black from the USA. FFO: Funereal Presence, Mortuary Drape, Predatory Light)
Such a cool sound: fresh and interesting, and somehow kind of ancient at the same time. As if they've always been around. Plus, most importantly, it's wild! Rocking black metal. (Officially comes out tomorrow, saturday)
There is more: Watain (🌶️ black from Sweden), Rammstein (industrial from Germany), Helms Alee (🌶️ prog/sludge from the USA), Devil Master (black/punk from the USA), Candelabrum (raw black from Portugal), The Gathering (🌶️ prog from The Netherlands), Silver Knife (black from The Netherlands = with Déhà, members of Laster), a split from Bedsore & Mortal Incarnation (🌶️ prog death from Italy & death from Japan), Pyrithe (🌶️ experimental sludge/post/noise from the USA), Heriot (post-hardcore from the UK), Dischordia (tech death from the USA), Sacrilega (death from the USA), Celestial Season (doom/death from The Netherlands), Sainte Marie Des Loups (black from France), a split from Crucifixion Bell & Krieg (both black from the USA), No/Más (grind/death from the USA), Suppression (death from Chile) and The Spirit (black/death from Germany).
New singles
There are new songs out from: Saor (🌶️ atmoblack/folk from the UK), Cave In (🌶️ alternative/post-hardcore from the USA), Haken (prog from the UK), Evergrey (prog/power from Sweden), Fallujah (prog/tech death from the USA), Behold! The Monolith (stoner/sludge from the USA), Final Light (post metal/electronic from France/Sweden - this is Perturbator plus Cult of Luna's Johannes Persson, commissioned for Roadburn), Gloryhammer (🧀/🧀 from the UK), Oni (prog/djent from Canada - featuring Iggy Pop and Randy Blythe), Hexis (black/hardcore from Denmark), Disquiet (melodic thrash from The Netherlands - featuring the great Charlotte Wessels), 暴君/Bloody Tyrant (melodeath/folk from Taiwan), Astronoid (post/shoegaze from the USA), Vananidr (melodic black/death from Sweden), Haserot (death from the USA), Misery Index (death/grind from the USA), Lord Belial ( black from Sweden), Yatra (sludge/stoner/doom from the USA), and Djevelkult (black from Norway).
Plus: a sample of the new Mournful Congregation ep (funeral doom from Australia).
