To The Teeth: Thou, Oceans of Slumber, Exhumed, Gruesome, Mr. Bungle
New albums
My favourites
Nirvana was my first love. Can you improve their catalogue? I don't think so, but it's possible to give it a twist, a personal touch. Thou (sludge/grunge from the USA), a band I also love dearly, do so with a record full of lovingly recorded Nirvana covers. I couldn't be happier with this surprise release.
Colin Marston, the wizard of The Thousand Caves studio (also of Krallice, Behold the Arctopus, Gorguts and more), is back with a new solo project: Xazraug (black from the USA). It's - of course - quite cerebral music that'll take a few spins to feel home here, but there are warm synths and long winding rhythms and riffs behind every corner. Another cool surprise.

There are new albums, demo’s, splits and ep’s out from Exhumed & Gruesome (death/grind and death from the USA), Old Man Gloom (sludge/noise from the USA - yes, more OMG: a new ep), Urantia (post-black from Colombia), 16 (sludge from the USA), Asthenia (blackgaze from China) , Lascar (post-black from Chile), Dope Smoker (you'd never guess it's stoner/doom, from the UK), Blight (black from Canada), Death Courier (thrash/death from Greece), END (metalcore/hardcore from the USA), Oozing Wound (thrash/crossover from the USA), Gold (dark rock/gothic from the Netherlands - an acoustic ep), Heads.
