🌶️ To The Teeth: proggy heavy, riffy black, buzzy death
Phantom Spell, Stangarigel, Entrails, Clairvoyance, Eternal Darkness, Ba'al, Oskoreien, Der Weg Einer Freiheit & much more!
Welcome to the To The Teeth newsletter! Your weekly update of new heavy music. You can listen to (most) everything in the playlist on Spotify. If you like what you read, go to Patreon (receive a patch!) & Bandcamp (buy a patch!). Peppers are hot 🌶️!
I’m out for vacation for a few weeks. I won’t be sending out a newsletter and no updates to the playlist - vacation is vacation. But I’ll be back in the last quarter of august with a huge update of new stuff!
New Albums
🌶️ Phantom Spell
Prog/heavy, Spain (Wizard Tower Recordings/Cruz del Sur)
FFO: Tarot, Uriah Heep, Freeways
The second album from one-man-heavy metal machine Phantom Spell is here, and it’s as sharp as an ancient sword, drenched in the blood of the foes of the citadel.
🌶️ Stangarigel
Black, Slovakia (Medieval Prophecy Records)
FFO: Malokarpatan, old Ulver, Satyricon
Insanely riffy black metal from the dude behind Malokarpatan. There’s folky stuff, heavy metally stuff and lots and lots of riffy stuff. I know I’m being lazy here, but it’s really all you need to know going into this.
🌶️ Entrails
Death, Sweden (Hammerheart Records)
FFO: Entombed, Grave, Repugnant
If you like Swedish buzzsawing, there’s a zero percent chance you’ll dislike this. But don’t sleep on new Clairvoyance, Filth and Eternal Darkness, either.
There’s more: Clairvoyance (🌶️ death, Poland), Eternal Darkness (🌶️ death/doom, Sweden), Ba’al (black/sludge/post, UK), Oskoreien (melodic black, USA), Dephosphorus (death/black/grind, Greece), Filth (death, Sweden), Mawiza (groove/metalcore, Chile) and a split from Haunter & Cape of Bats (both black/punk, USA). The rest is in the playlist!
Six new songs
🌶️ Der Weg Einer Freiheit (black, Germany)
🌶️ Castle Rat (doom, USA)
🌶️ Biohazard (hardcore, USA)
🌶️ Blackbriar (symphonic, The Netherlands)
🌶️ Malthusian (black/death, Ireland)
🌶️ Proscription (blackened death, Finland)
The rest is in the playlist!
Not-so-heavy & next week
Not-so-heavy album of the week: Samora Pinderhughes (jazz/hiphop/indie, USA)
Next couple of weeks: Atomic Witch, Scalp, Car Bomb, Sallow Moth, Blackbraid, Crypt Sermon, Malthusian, Castrator & more.
What is your favourite? What did I miss? Let me know!
