To The Teeth: Old Man Gloom, Enslaved, Esoctrilihum, Lör, Revenge
New albums
My favourites
There's always something with Old Man Gloom (sludge/ambient/noise from the USA). It's never normal. And that's why I love them. Last time, they released two records with the same name - both just named The Ape of God - while sending out fake promo versions to the press. This time they again release two records - one and two -, but the second part first, while the initial possible jokes didn't came through because of the corona crisis. My favourite possibility is that Santos and Aaron were going to release it without telling the other band members. Genious. (And they're heartfelt, adventurous and goddamn heavy albums, too, that do the memory of Caleb Scofield right).
It's pretty incredible what Asthâghul of Esoctrilihum (avant black from France) does. Within five years he has released five mind boggling records of epic scope, by himself - an incredible streak. His (or her?) new one is another amazing, inspired, sprawling adventure of a record. (And can I get a hell yeah for label I, Voidhanger Records, too? It's hard to believe how recognizable their releases are, always high quality ánd prolific: there are more releases from them down here).
