🌶️ To The Teeth: Kreator, Severe Torture, Sunrise Patriot Motion, Satyricon, Inanimate Existence, Soulfly, Imperial Triumphant & more!
New albums
🌶️ Kreator (thrash from Germany. FFO: Sodom, Slayer, Exodus, you know the drill)
I probably won't listen to this a lot and I bet it won't make my year list, but it's just kind of comforting that bands like these go on and on and fairly consistently churn out bangers that you can always turn to and just know you'll enjoy.
🌶️ Sunrise Patriot Motion (post-punk/black. FFO: Killing Joke, Lifelover, Ustalost, Yellow Eyes)
This might very well make my list. It was always clear that the Skarstad brothers Will and Sam had more up their sleeve than black metal. I would argue that even their black metal is more than just that: expansive, creative and free of boundaries while still within the idiom, just check out the latest Ustalost record (which definitely will make my list). This new project of theirs, formed with the vocalist of Pop. 1280 and the drummer from Bambara (both unknown to me), is a weird amalgam of black metal, gothic and post-punk, a little industrial and a lot of atmosphere. Great release.
🦄 Satyricon (Black/experimental from Norway. FFO: Ulver's weirder releases, that last Blood Incantation album)
Legendary black metal act Satyricon is back - but not as you expected. Satyr and Frost have created a soundtrack for a Edvard Munch exhibition, inspired by his work. It's very experimental, one track almost an hour long, and no you will not be able to bang your head. Is it good? It's interesting. I'd love to hear it in the exhibition halls, where it was meant to be listened to.
There's more: Severe Torture (🌶️ death from The Netherlands), Inanimate Existence (prog/tech death from the USA), Yatra (sludge/stoner/doom from the USA), Revenant Marquis (raw black/ambient from the UK), Besieged (🌶️ death/thrash from Canada), Berator (death/black from the USA), Deathwhite (melodic doom/gothic from the USA), Umbra Conscientia (black from Germany/Costa Rica), Kardashev (prog/atmospheric post-metal/deathcore from the USA), Heart Attack (thrash/groove from France), AIAA 7 (🌶️ atmoblack from Mexico - a Victoria Carmilla H. project, new rising star of this corner of black metal), Sacrimonia (symphonic black from Poland), Eggs Of Gomorrh (black/death from Switzerland), Monasterium (epic doom from Poland), Baazlvaat (black/heavy from the USA), Deathfuckingcunt (t*ch de*th from Au*trali*) and Wind Rose (folk/power from Italy).
Plus you can check out new White Ward (experimental black from Ukraine 🌻) in full a week early.
