New Albums
🌶️ Judas Priest
Heavy, UK (Sony)
FFO: Iron Maiden, Saxon, Accept
I can’t help but compare the new Judas Priest to Bruce Dickinson’s new album from last week. They both sound great, don’t get me wrong. But while Dickinson sounds great for his age, Halford just sounds plain fucking great for anyone in any category. I mean, damn. What the hell is this guy eating? There’s really no reason he should scorch a song like ‘The Serpent & The King’ so easily, or steamroll over ‘Trail By Fire’. He really sounds incredible and the band follows suit: fantastic album. Please give this band another 50 years.
There’s more: Midnight (black/speed, USA), Doodseskader (experimental sludge/post, Belgium - member of Amenra), Isenordal (🌶️ pagan black/doom/neofolk, USA), Municipal Waste (thrash/pizza, USA), Skeletal Remains (🌶️ death, USA), Slimelord (death/doom, UK) and Ecclesia (doom/heavy, France). The rest is in the playlist!
Five new songs
🌶️ Sinistro (sludge/post/doom, Portugal)
🌶️ Dark Tranquillity (melodeath, Sweden)
🌶️ Vorga (black, Germany)
🌶️ Critical Defiance (thrash, Chile)
🌶️ Fleshgod Apocalpyse (symphonic/tech death, Italy)
The rest is in the playlist!
Non-metal & next week
Non-metal album of the week: Bolis Pupul (electropop, Belgium)
I’m looking forward to next week because of: Gouge Away, Necrophobic, Vltimas.
What is your favourite? What did I miss? Let me know!
Biggest surprise: Judas Priest. Favorite track: Vorga. Best way to confuse people who think they like classical music: Fleshgod Apocalypse.
New Priest great. I am really vibing with that Slimelord album though. That’s the weird stuff I like.
