New Albums
🌶️ The Black Dahlia Murder
What to do when you lose your singer? Stop? Go on? Do something entirely different? Just go on, on the same road? There’s no perfect solution, and no band is the same. I do really like what TBDM did after Trevor Strnad passed away: their own guitarist stepped in for vocal duties and tried to emulate Strnad as much as he could, while a former guitarist of the band got back in to thicken the sound. It really works.
🌶️ Adorior
Death/black, UK (Dark Descent Records)
FFO: Adversarial, Antediluvian, Impiety
That artwork is.. what the hell is that artwork. Anyway, this will get your blood pumping (I’m sorry about that). The vocals on this piece of filth are unhinged as hell, and it’s totally awesome.
🌶️ Spite
Black, USA (Invictus Productions)
FFO: Negative Plane, Mortuary Drape, Spirit Possession
Black metal made by a drummer, that means driving, forceful and intense black metal. Jesse ‘Salpsan’ Balgley does everything in this project, besides running label Stygian Black Hand. Is it going to land on a lot of aoty-lists? I’m not sure. But I really need something like this every now and then, to know I’m alive and give a little edge to the day. Spite delivers.
There’s more: The Flight of Sleipnir (stoner/doom/folk, USA), Ripped to Shreds (death, USA), Arkona (black, Poland), Vicious Blade (thrash/crust, USA), Heriot (industrial metalcore, UK), Ingurgitating Oblivion (🌶️ avantgarde/tech death, Germany), Bewitcher (black/speed, USA), Keitzer (death/grind, Germany) and a solo ep from System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian (alternative, USA). The rest is in the playlist!
Five new songs
🌶️ Blood Incantation (death, USA)
🌶️ Mefitis (death/black, USA)
🌶️ The Halo Effect ()
🌶️ Sólstafir (post, Iceland)
🌶️ Living Gate (death, Belgium/USA)
The rest is in the playlist!
Not-so-heavy & next week
